The Kivo is a parent-child tandem for an adult sitting at the back and a child sitting at the front. This gives the child a great view of the surroundings. The rider at the back always has a clear view of the child. The Kivo tandem has a low step-through, making it easy to use.
The Kivo comes standard with 8 gears and a switchable freewheel. With this switchable freewheel, you can decide whether and how the passenger pedals along. You can choose how you want to ride together — with the dual freewheel, you can pedal independently of each other. Using the freewheel hub, the main rider can set how the passenger participates in pedaling.
With rear steering, the freewheel hub has three modes:
The passenger’s pedals move together with the main rider’s pedals. The passenger must pedal along.
The passenger’s pedals move independently of the main rider’s pedals. The pedals spin freely and the passenger cannot pedal along.
In this mode, the passenger’s pedals move independently of the main rider’s pedals. The passenger can choose to pedal along.
An optional electric motor is available for all versions, providing comfortable pedal assistance that makes riding this tandem even easier.
If you choose the optional electric pedal assistance, it is delivered as a smart e-bike. With the Van Raam app, you can set a different assistance level on your Van Raam bike.
The Kivo is also available as a three-wheel version with two rear wheels: the Kivo Plus. In addition, Van Raam also offers tandems for two adults: the two-wheel tandem Twinny and the three-wheel tandem Twinny Plus. The Fun2Go duo bike is a three-wheel tandem where the riders sit side by side.
